Mahseer (Sahar) is a migratory, second largest riverine sport fish (record weight: 120 kg) in Nepal. Alarmingly its habitat is deteriorating and as a response artificial propagation techniques have been developed. However, Mahseer culture technology has not been commercialized as yet for mass seed production due to its complex spawning pattern.
